The moon still holds many mysteries to this day. This triggered the emergence of several myths and theories about the Earth's satellites among the people. However, these myths tend to make no sense and are related to conspiracy theories. The following are:
The full moon drives us crazy
Since ancient times, the full moon has been associated with strange or crazy behavior. Including sleepwalking, suicide, illegal activities, violence - and of course the possibility of turning into a wolf.
For thousands of years, doctors and mental health experts also believed that there was a strong connection between madness and the Moon.
Hippocrates, known as the father of modern medicine, wrote in the 5th century BC that "people who experience fear and madness at night are being visited by the moon goddess".
The word "lunacy" - meaning madness - is indeed taken from the name of the moon goddess in Roman mythology, Luna, who rides her silver chariot in the sky every night.

In the 18th century, in England, people who were tried for murder, asked for leniency if the crime occurred during the full moon. They felt that the crime committed was influenced by the Moon.
Meanwhile, patients in the Bethlehem psychiatric hospital in London, which was founded in 1247, are often flogged and put up during the full moon phase as a precautionary measure.
Although research cannot prove this myth, some people today still think that the full moon can make them temporarily lose their minds.
Aliens live on the Moon
In 1820, Franz von Paula Gruithuisen, an astronomer from Bavaria, Germany, claimed that he had seen the cities of the Moon with his telescope. He wrote that the 'inhabitants of the Moon' had built sophisticated buildings, streets and fortresses.
Most of his colleagues scoffed at Gruithuisen's statement. Even so, his services in researching the Moon were so highly valued that researchers gave the name of one of the craters there to be named Gruithuisen.
Not long ago, scientists said that the Moon might have been home to aliens in the early formation of Earth, four billion years ago. The extraterrestial creature is thought to have gotten there after the explosion of the meteorite.
The moon controls the fertility of women
Perhaps because the menstrual cycle and the Moon have almost the same time, many people believe that the Earth's satellite plays a role in determining when women will get pregnant.
This theory explains why the figure of the moon goddess - from Chang'e in Chinese beliefs to the Mama Quilla of the Incas - is so striking in mythology that is developing throughout the world.
In the 1950s, Eugene Jonas, a Czech doctor, discovered an ancient Assyrian astrological text which states that the fertile period of women would follow a certain phase of the Moon.
Jonas then applies his patient's pregnancy planning based on this hypothesis. He tells patients that ovulation will occur in the same month as their birth.
Meanwhile, another theory says, the full moon triggers a spike in births. At that time, the maternity ward will be filled with women who want to give birth.
The moon is a hollow spaceship
Some fiction books in the early 20th century, including by H.G Wells, entitled The First Men in the Moon, take the premise of a story about aliens living on the Moon.
In 1970, two scientists from the Soviet Union also took the theory seriously. They say that the Moon is actually a hollow spaceship built by aliens with their advanced technology and intelligence.
This theory has been refuted by astronomers. The reason is, the Moon cannot possibly maintain its mass and gravitational field if it does not have a solid core.
Astronauts never reach the Moon
Although NASA has shown a lot of evidence, but some people still do not believe that the Apollo mission was really carried out.
They assume, the landing of astronauts on the Moon is a fake story made by NASA using photos that have been manipulated and video engineering to deceive the public.
